SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Justin McComb (Newington, CT) scored twice to lead the Western New England College field hockey team to an easy 8-1 victory over visiting Anna Maria College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) match Saturday night (Oct. 13) during Family & Friends Weekend.

Senior Sarah McQuarrie (Windham, ME) added a goal and two assists while classmates Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) and Emily Popham (Orange, MA) each had a goal and an assist. The three players along with Amy Cunningham (LaGrangeville, NY) and Emilie Donka (White River Junction, VT) were honored before the game during Senior Day.

Freshman Amy Hedberg (Guiford, CT) contributed her first collegiate goal.

The Amcats avoided the shutout when sophomore Angela Giuffrida (Norwich, VT) scored a goal in the second half.

Freshman goalie Alyssa Boykin (Worcester, MA) compiled 17 saves for Anna Maria who drops to 2-11 and 1-5.

Western New England College now has a 4-2 mark in the conference and is 6-10 overall.
