WENHAM, Mass. – Junior Tony Rosa (Ludlow, MA) tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 30th minute as the Western New England College men's soccer team captured The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) regular season title with a 3-1 victory over host Gordon College Thursday afternoon (Oct. 25).

This was the school's first-ever conference crown after joining TCCC in September.

Junior Jim Maples (Pleasant Valley, NY) gave the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute with an assist from classmate Dale Totman (Conway, MA).

Rosa added his second goal of the season just 2:13 later to give WNEC a 2-0 lead at half-time.

The Fighting Scots (9-7-1, 8-3-1 TCCC) got on the board when Matt Schneider hit the back of the net with an assist from Joel Spruance in the 67th minute.

Senior Ben Wells (Morrisville, VT) gave Western New England College some breathing room with his first goal of the season in the 85th minute with an assist from Maples.

Senior goalkeeper Steve Hennessey (White River Junction, VT) had one of his best outings with a career high 12 saves.

Western New England College improves its record to 11-5-2 overall and 10-2 in the conference. The Golden Bears will be the top seed in the TCCC Tournament hosting eighth-seeded University of New England on Saturday with the game time to be announced.
