Western New England College and Southern New Hampshire skate to overtime tie

HOOKSET, N.H. – Junior goalie Kyle Sagnella (East Haven, CT) compiled 33 saves as visiting Western New England College and Southern New Hampshire University skated to a 1-1 overtime tie Tuesday night (Nov. 13) in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey game at The Ice Den.

Junior forward David Smith (Columbus, IN) scored his first goal in a Golden Bears' uniform with 5:04 left in the final period to knot the contest. Junior defenseman Joe Balog (Ludlow, MA) earned the assist.

The game was scoreless after two periods before sophomore John Frey (Westminster, CO) put the Penmen ahead at the 9:38 mark of the third stanza.

Sagnella had five of his saves in the overtime period as WNEC snapped a five-game losing skid.

The Golden Bears are now 0-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the ECAC Northeast.

Sophomore Shane Brooks (Kennebunk, ME) stopped 30 shots, including four in overtime, in his debut for Southern New Hampshire (1-0-1) who was playing its second straight league contest.
