SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's soccer team compiled its second straight shutout with a 1-0 victory over Massachusetts College Sunday (Sept. 2) in the second day of competiton at the Springfield Invitational at Brock-Affleck Field.

Freshman Heather Mortell (Webster, MA) knocked home the winning shot with her first collegiate goal in the opening half. Junior Shivaun Wheeler (Southington, CT) had the assist.

Saturday, the Golden Bears beat Elms College by the same score in the opening round of the tournament.

Western New England College (2-0) visits Keene State Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 5).
