SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - In a battle of two of last year's NCAA Division III Tournament teams, visiting Roger Williams scored two goals late in the second half for a 3-2 men's soccer victory over Western New England College Saturday (Sept. 29) at Suprenant field.

Junior Dan Saccoccio (Holtsville, NY) had a goal and two assists, including one on the game-winner by senior Antoine Bell (Bordeaux, France) in the 79th minute. Saccoccio had tied the match with an unassisted score in the 77th minute.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead on a goal by junior Brandon O'Donovan (Coram, NY) in the 38th minute before the Golden Bears knotted the contest when junior Dale Totman (Conway, MA) scored in the 58th minute with an assist from junior Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY).

Senior Dan Lawrence (Easthampton, MA) then gave WNEC its only lead of the game in the 66th minute as classmate Mike Stewart (Springfield, MA) earned the assist.

But the Hawks came back to raise their record to 4-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in TCCC.

Western New England College saw its record drop to 7-3-2 and 5-1 with its first conference loss.
