Western New England College drops non-conference night decision at Babson

Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Junior Jess Paladino (Turner, ME) scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Babson field hockey team to a 4-0 victory over visiting Western New England College in a non-conference contest Thursday night (Oct. 23) at MacDowell Field.

Freshman Erika Hansen (Marston Mills, MA) gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead at the 8:22 mark of the opening half. Sophomore Sarah Fredlund (New Preston, CT) made it 2-0, with an assist from Paladino, with 4:30 left in the half.

Freshman goalie Jessica Pashos (Winchester, MA) played just over 61 minutes and made two saves for Babson, while junior Emily Cohen (West Grove, PA) added nine minutes of scoreless play in relief.

Junior Alyssa L'Bassi (Shrewsbury, MA) added a nice defensive save midway through the first period for the Beavers.

The play started when WNEC sophomore Katy Vogl (Cazenovia, NY) tipped a shot by classmate Aimee O'Connell (Rome, NY) toward the left side of the cage on a breakaway, but L'Bassi charged in front of the goal and swatted away the would-be goal at the 20-minute mark.

Sophomore Megan Jones (Keene, NH) finished with 11 saves in goal for Western New England College while senior Jessica Abelson (Pittsford, NY) added a defensive save just over 12 minutes into the game.

Babson improves to 11-7 overall while WNEC falls to 3-14.
