Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Scoring two goals in each half, the New England College field hockey team defeated Western New England College 4-1 Saturday night (Oct. 25) during "Senior Night" at rainy Golden Bear Stadium.
Senior Jodie Dresser (Keene, NH) led the Pilgrims with two goals (both in the second stanza) and an assist.
NEC took a 2-0 lead after the opening half on goals by sophomores Brianna Gerrior (Gloucester, MA) and Marissa Ayotte (Feeding Hills, MA).
Dresser gave the visitors a 3-0 lead at the 52:25 mark before the Golden Bears tallied a goal by sophomore Tara Breslawski (North Babylon, NY) less than six minutes later. Sophomore Sarah Antosik (South Windsor, CT) earned the assist.
Dresser then put the game out of reach with her final score with 3:12 left in the contest.
Western New England College freshman goalie Lindsey Orszulak (Longmeadow, MA) finished with 12 saves.
Junior goalie Mary Roux (Auburn, MA) stopped five shots.
New England College moves to 14-4 overall and 7-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
WNEC drops to 3-15 and 2-5 in the league with one match remaining in the regular season.
