Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Molly Malloy (Stamford, CT) scored the first three goals of her career and sophomore Carly Leahy (Weston, MA) added a goal and three assists as visiting Amherst rolled to a 9-0 victory over Western New England College in a non-league field hockey game Thursday night (Oct. 9).
The Lady Jeffs move over the .500 mark at 5-4 while the Golden Bears fall to 1-10.
Malloy started the scoring 11:56 into the contest before adding a goal off a penalty corner with assists from junior Haley Douds (South Orange, NJ) and freshman Carly Dudzik (Darien, CT) at 25:46
Malloy then added her final goal just 1:18 later for a 3-0 advantage.
Amherst went on to take a 6-0 lead at halftime and coasted the rest of the way.
Seven players wound up scoring goals for the Lady Jeffs who finished with 23 shots.
Western New England College managed only one shot late in the second half.
Freshman goalie Lindsey Orszulak (Longmeadow, MA) compiled 10 saves for the Golden Bears.
Senior defender Jessica Abelson (Pittsford, NY) contributed four defensive saves.
