Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Taryn Flagg (Livermore Falls, ME) scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the University of New England field hockey team rallied for a 3-2 decision over Western New England College Saturday night (Sept. 20).
The Nor'easters evened their record at 2-2 and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The Golden Bears fall to 0-7 and 0-2 in the conference.
Flagg gave UNE a 1-0 lead just 8:50 into the contest before sophomore Erin Griffin (Lowell, MA) netted a goal on a penalty shot for Western New England College at3:34 before half-time
In the second half, WNEC went ahead when senior Caitlin Gelber (Centereach, NY) fired in a shot at the 46:14 mark.
The visitors quickly tied the contest on a goal by senior Nicole Mace (Readfield, ME) at 49:44 and took the lead for good on Flagg's winning shot just 1:22 later.
Sophomore Alya Nelson (Auburn, MA) had four saves for UNE, including a nice stop on a breakaway shot by sophomore Tara Breslawski (North Babylon, NY) with 16:35 remaining in the contest.
Freshman Lindsay Orszulak (Longmeadow, MA) compiled nine saves for the Golden Bears.
