Michelle Oswald (Jay, ME) each scores two goals to lead the University of New England field hockey team to a 5-0 victory over Western New England College Thursday evening (Oct. 22).
This was the completion of a game suspended on October 3 because of lightning.
Sophomore
Brianna Tupper (Winthrop, ME) added two assists for the Nor'easters who are now 11-2 overall and 6-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Flagg tallied the opening goal at 10:07 and junior
Cassandra Bushey (North Hartland, VT) scored at 16:04 as the visitors took a 2-0 lead at halftime.
UNE scored its final three goals in a 7:53 span to break the contest open.
Oswald fired home a shot at the 44:57 mark and Flagg netted her second goal 2:42 later. Oswald completed the scoring at 52:50.
The Nor'easters held a 19-5 advantage in shots while both teams each had five penalty corners.
Junior goalie
Ayla Nelson (Auburn, MA) made two saves for the University of New England.
WNEC sophomore goalie
Lindsay Orszulak (Longmeadow, MA) stopped six shots.
The Golden Bears fall to 4-13 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
Tonight's game also was part of the school's "Play For The Cure" program to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.
