SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior forward Sarah Fredlund (New Preston, CT) scored two goals and had an assist as Babson powered by the Western New England College field hockey team 7-2 in a non-league contest on Saturday (Oct. 24) at Golden Bear Stadium.

Prior to the match Western New England College senior defender Lauren Arsenault (Fitchburg, MA) was recognized for her four years of service and dedication to the program.

Babson (11-6) jumped on the board early as sophomore forward Courtney Weaving (New Preston, CT) shot a cross pass from the right side to Fredlund for her first score of the afternoon.

Senior forward Jess Paladino (Turner, ME) gave her team a 2-0 advantage on an unassisted goal with 9:50 remaining in the half.

Western New England College (4-14) cut the lead in half at the 28:14 mark courtesy of junior forward Tara Breslawski (North Babylon, NY) who found an open hole through the goal. Freshman midfielder Lindsay Lalonde (Middlebury, VT) had the assist.

That was the closest the Golden Bears would ever get as Fredlund quickly made it a two-goal deficit with 3:37 left in the half and led the rest of the way.

Paladino (two goals), junior midfielder Colleen Kelly (Milton, MA), freshman forward Kelly Walsh (Gardner, MA), and freshman midfielder Daniella Lobo (Santiago, Chile) all had second half goals.

WNEC got its final goal with a second on the clock on a penalty stroke by Lalonde.

Sophomore goalie Lindsey Orszulak (Longmeadow, MA) had another busy outing and finished with 15 saves.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Pashos (Winchester, MA) and senior Emily Cohen (West Grove, PA) combined for three saves for Babson.
