WENHAM, Mass. -- The Western New England College men's soccer team posted its sixth straight shutout after defeating host Gordon 2-0 Tuesday afternoon.

The Golden Bears, who have nine shutouts in 13 matches, raised their record to 7-4-2 and 4-2-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Coach Erin Sullivan's side got on the board in the 25th minute with an own goal.

Senior midfielder Tony Rosa (Ludlow, MA) sent a corner kick towards the goal, which deflected off a Gordon defender and into the net.

The Fighting Scots stayed in the game despite playing the last 18 minutes a man down after receiving a red card.

Sophomore midfielder Eric Marcelino (Farmington, CT) added the insurance goal with two minutes left with assists from junior forward Kiernan Garn (Lake Huntington, NY) and sophomore midfielder Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY).

Senior goalkeeper Kyle Bak (Cumberland, RI) finished with five saves for his seventh shutout of the season.

WNEC held a slight 15-14 edge in shots and a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman Ryan Coil (Brentwood, TN) stopped two shots for the Fighting Scots (5-6, 4-3 TCCC).

It was a rough match with 29 fouls and six cards.
