Box Score FOXBORO, Mass. - Sophomore forward Chris Beaudoin (Enfield, CT) netted the game-winner with five seconds remaining as the Western New England College men's hockey team posted a 5-4 victory over Stonehill in an ECAC Northeast game Wednesday evening (Feb. 4) at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Freshman forward Mike Kaselouskas (East Longmeadow, MA) had the assist on the winning shot as the Golden Bears rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the second period.
WNEC took a 1-0 lead when freshman defenseman Joe Deptula (Anchorage, AK) scored on a power play goal just 2:12 into the game with assists from sophomore forward Vinny Weyel (North Haven, CT) and senior forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL).
The Skyhawks tied the game after the opening stanza and went ahead 3-1 when sophomore center Angelo Todesca (Westwood, MA) hit the back of the net at 6:10 of the middle period.
The Golden Bears started their comeback when freshman center Kory Grahl (San Diego, CA) answered just 1:26 later with an assist from Majesty.
Freshman forward Rory Hansen (Noblesville, IL) tied the contest at the 13:46 mark as Kaselouskas and Beaudoin earned the assists.
Western New England College went ahead at 16:07 when senior forward Phil Lamy (Manchester, NH) scored with assists from senior center Hank Levin (Lido Beach, NY) and senior defenseman Joe Balog (Ludlow, MA).
In the final frame, Stonehill senior forward John Sommers (Manchester, CT) knotted the score at 5:32 and the game appeared to be headed into overtime until Beaudoin delivered his winning shot, which ended the Golden Bears' six-game skid.
The teams combined for 88 shots with WNEC junior goalie Justin Richards (Somers, CT) compiled 41 saves while sophomore Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, MA) made 38 stops.
Western New England College is now 2-15-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the ECAC Northeast.
Stonehill falls to 5-8, its same mark in the league.
