Keene State shuts out Western New England College in home opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
– Senior forward Carly Benning (Brewster, MA) scored two goals and had one assist and sophomore forward Elizabeth Coffin (Sugar Hill, NH) tallied two goals as Keene State shutout the Western New England College field hockey team 7-0 in its home opener on Thursday (Sept. 10) at Golden Bear Stadium.

Keene State (4-0) fired in three goals in a 2:15 minute span led by Benning and junior midfielder Chelsea Blackmer (Boylston, MA). Blackmer finished with a goal and assist. Sophomore forward Aislynn Sherry (Rehoboth, MA) assisted the first tally and also finished with a goal and assist.

The Owls led 3-0 at the half and didn't score again until the 38:12 mark.

Sophomore forward Jacki Benson (Hampstead, NH) had a goal and assist and senior defender Erin Dallas (Marlow, NH) also chipped in with an assist.

Western New England College (0-3) only managed four shots the entire game while Keene State compiled 31 and held an 11-2 advantage in penalty corners.

WNEC freshman goalie Katy Hall (Pawtucket, RI) collected 18 saves.

Senior Vikki Stoessel (Derry, NH) finished with two saves for Keene State and junior Meghan Ledoux (Standish, ME) also saw some playing time in goal.
