SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior midfielder
Kasey Bascetta (Granby, CT) fired in the game winning goal with 34.7 seconds remaining in overtime as Westfield State defeated the Western New England College field hockey team 2-1 Thursday night (Sept. 17) at Golden Bear Stadium.
The Owls improve their record to 3-2 while the Golden Bears remain winless at 0-6.

Aimee O'Connell (Rome, NY) tied the game when her shot found the back of the goal with 12:47 remaining in the contest.
It appeared the game would head into a second overtime, but Westfield drew a penalty corner, which led to Bascetta's goal. Senior defender

Amanda McCarthy (Franklin, MA) compiled six saves for the Owls.
Westfield had a big 27-9 shot advantage, but Golden Bears' sophomore goalie
Lindsey Orzsulak (Longmeadow, MA) kept the home team in the game with 17 saves in an outstanding performance.
