SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College field hockey team lost to defending The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) champion Nichols 2-0 on Saturday (Oct. 2) night at Golden Bear Stadium.

Junior forward Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, MA) tallied the first goal for the Bison with an assist from sophomore forward Barbara Roy (Springfield, MA) at 16:15 of the opening half.

Roy would later add an insurance goal at 59:17 to seal the victory.

Nichols' junior goaltender Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, MA) picked up the win in net.

Western New England College freshman goalkeeper Brittney O'Brien (Carver, MA) made eight saves.

Junior defenders Janelle Lawton (Poughkeepsie, NY) and Kathleen Jasinski (Templeton, MA) each contributed a defensive save.

The Bison improve to 8-2 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0. The Golden Bears fall to 4-7 and 2-2 in the conference.

Western New England College returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 6) as they travel to Gordon for a 4:00 p.m. conference game.
