SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College men's soccer team defeated Colby-Sawyer 3-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Championship quarterfinals on Saturday (Oct. 30) at Suprenant Field.

Freshman forward Andrew Rose (Farmington, CT) opened the scoring at 25:47 on a feed from senior midfielder Alex Dos Santos (Ludlow, MA). Rose leads the team with eight goals on the season.

The Golden Bears clung to a 1-0 lead until the 73rd minute when sophomore forward Tony DeCato (Winsted, CT) provided an insurance tally as freshman forward Ryan Williams (Brewster, NY) and Dos Santos earned the assists.

Williams capped off the scoring at 77:26 to secure the result.

Western New England College held a 22-13 edge in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Sean Healey (Portland, CT) picked up the shutout win, making six saves in the match.

Colby-Sawyer junior goalkeeper Will Berry (Berlin, VT) made eight stops for the visitors.

The Golden Bears advance to the semifinal round of the conference tournament hosting third-seeded Gordon on Wednesday (Nov. 2) at 1:00 p.m. The teams battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie on October 16 in their regular season meeting held at Suprenant Field.
