WENHAM, Mass. - Junior Samantha Neverett (Athol, MA) scored both two goals as the Gordon field hockey team defeated Western New England 2-0 in the rain Wednesday (Oct. 6) at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

The Fighting Scots improved to 3-9 overall and 2-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

The Golden Bears fall to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Neverett tallied her first goal at the 11-minute mark as the hosts took a 1-0 lead at the break.

The contest remained close until Neverett added an insurance goal with just over a minute left in the game.

Western New England College had a 14-11 advantage in shots, but freshman goalie Anna Bury (Huntingtown, MD) collected six saves for the shutout.

Freshman Brittney O'Brien (Caver, MA) and sophomore Kaitlyn Hall (Pawtucket, RI) split time in net for the Golden Bears and combined on four saves.
