Western New England College tops New Jersey to run winning streak to five games

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Senior pitcher Matt Rogers (Portsmouth, RI) allowed only four hits in six innings and junior second baseman Andrew Fatse (Hampden, MA) had four hits as the Western New England College baseball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 10-2 victory over The College of New Jersey Sunday (March 14) at Snedigar Field.

Rogers struck out three, walked two, and gave up only an unearned run in raising his record to 2-0.

Fatse had three singles and a double with a run and run-batted-in.

Junior catcher Jason Leclerc (Chicopee, MA) contributed a pair of singles along with a double, two runs, and three RBI.

Senior first baseman Joe Griglun (Southington, CT) added a pair of hits, walk, and run--batted-in.

Western New England College took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and plated five runs in the third for a 6-0 advantage.

Sophomore catcher Mike Galeotafiore( Brick, NJ) extended his hitting streak to nine games for the Lions with a single in the fourth.

The College of New Jersey drops to 3-6 after completing its final game at the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational.

Western New England College has a .380 batting average after five games and 2.72 earned-run-average. The Golden Bears are averaging 12.8 runs a game.
