SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College men's soccer team scored a pair of second half goals to defeat Endicott in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action on Saturday (Sept. 18).
Freshman forward
Andrew Rose (Farmington, CT) opened the scoring for the Golden Bears as he converted a chance just three minutes into the second half. Rose now has three goals on the year.
Senior midfielder
Justin Martins (Ludlow, MA) provided WNEC with an insurance goal in the 86th minute, assisted by sophomore forward
Tony DeCato (Winsted, CT).
Freshman goalkeeper
Domenick Villano (Bronxville, NY) registered four saves while picking up the shutout victory.
Endicott sophomore goalkeeper
Daniel Higgins (Kingstown, RI) made six saves.
The Golden Bears improve their record to 3-3-1 (2-0), while the Gulls fall to 0-4-1 (0-2).
Western New England College returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 19), as they face Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m. in Middletown, CT in a non-conference match.
The last time these two schools met was in the 2009 NCAA tournament, as they played to a 1-1 draw that saw Wesleyan advance on penalty kicks (5-4).
