MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Salve Regina used a balanced scoring attack to score five second half goals in a 5-1 win over Western New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Sunday (Oct. 16) evening at Gaudet Field.
The Seahawks improve to 5-8 (1-5 CCC); while the Golden Bears fall to 4-12 (2-4 CCC).
After battling through a scoreless first half, Salve Regina started the second half by scoring three goals in under two minutes to take control of the contest.
SRU senior defender
Michelle Massey (Mendon, MA) opened the scoring at 38:33 on an assist from freshman
Alexandria Rizzo (Hopedale, MA).
Senior forward
Samantha Dalton (Falmouth, MA) tallied the second goal at 39:12 on an assist from sophomore forward
Lisa Bucci (Irvington, NY).
Bucci added an unassisted goal at 40:20 to stretch the lead to 3-0.
The Golden Bears got on the board at 64:15 as sophomore midfielder
Alyssa Chamberlain (Charlton, MA) scored on an assist from classmate
Sarah Race (Cazenovia, NY).

Stephanie Reilly (North Grafton, MA) closed out the scoring at 67:45 on a feed from Massey.
Western New England held a 21-13 advantage in shots in the contest.
SRU freshman goalkeeper
Murphy McCann (Westerly, RI) recorded 14 saves in the cage to earn the win.
The Golden Bears return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 19) to host Nichols at 7:00 p.m. in conference play.
