SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University field hockey team lost a 5-1 decision at the hands of Nichols College in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at Golden Bear Stadium on Saturday. The winning Bison up their record to 10-6 overall and 6-2 in the league while the Golden Bears dip to 5-12 and 0-8.
The visitors got all the scoring they would need in the first half on goals by Meghan Dombkowski in the 25th minute and Jenn Townsend in the 33rd.
Townsend led the Bison offense with a pair of goals, followed by Dombkowski who later added two assists.

Shelby Van Huysen came up from her defensive spot to put Western New England on the board in the 42nd minute to open the scoring in the second half, cutting the deficit to 2-1 at the time. Senior
Lindsay Lalonde assisted on the play.
But the Bison added an insurance goal about four minutes later and put the game away with a pair of goals 5 minutes and 6 seconds apart beginning in the 63 minute.
Nichols owned a huge gap in shots at 26 to 5, including 17-3 in the second half to wear down the WNE defense.
