Tayler Mazurski scored a goal and assisted on another to help lead Western New England to a dominating 3-0 shutout over visiting Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer action at Suprenant Field on Saturday, punctuating Senior Day festivities for the Golden Bears. Western New England ups its record to 8-9-1 overall and 2-6 in the league while clinching a spot in the CCC Tournament. The Colonels, meanwhile, are eliminated from the postseason after falling to 6-10-2 and 1-7.
Freshman
Emma Norden took a feed from Mazurski to stake Western New England to a 1-0 lead only 2 minutes and 18 seconds after the opening kickoff.
After that goal stood up until halftime, the Golden Bears added some insurance tallies off the feet of Mazurski and freshman
Chelsea Kuzio in the 63rd and 73rd minutes, respectively.
Keeper
Briana Kubik, still another freshman, made a lone save to record her fourth career shutout.
Western New England had a commanding lead in shots at 19 to 3, including an 8-0 margin in the first half.
