Box Score BOSTON--The Western New England University women's soccer team outshot Wentworth 25 to 16 on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Bears dropped a 1-0 decision on the road to the Leopards. Western New England sinks to 5-7-1 overall, including 0-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, while Wentworth improves to 3-7-1 and 2-2 in the conference.

In the first half, the Golden Bears put a lot of pressure on the WIT defensive end with 12 shots (to five for the hosts), but found themselves behind 1-0 in the 30th minute when Elizabeth Somma scored her first goal of the season on a feed by Jackie McCullough.

Just 31 seconds later, the Leopards had a chance to go up 2-0 when a foul occurred in the box. But Briana Kubik made the penalty kick save on Tori Armishaw.

Wentworth had chances to go ahead throughout the second half but could not increase its lead, thanks to five saves from Kubik--who finished with six.

Western New England put pressure on Wentworth late in the contest as freshman Rachel Suntag put a shot on net that was saved by Jess Gardner. The rebound went out of bounds and the Golden Bears were awarded a corner kick with 16 seconds left. Another shot was put on net, but was saved and deflected out of bounds by Gardner just before time expired.

Miranda Stuckey (4 saves) and Gardner (5) combined on the shutout.

Tayler Mazurski led Western New England with game highs of nine shots and six attempts on goal.
