Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) scored six goals with an assist to lead the Western New England women's lacrosse team to a 13-7 victory over Nichols in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 3).
Sophomore midfielder
Kelsey Sherman (Buchanan, NY) added four goals and two assists for the Golden Bears who are now 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Bison is now 3-4 and 0-3 in CCC play.
Nichols started strong using two goals and two assist by senior attacker
Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, MA) to take a 7-3 lead at the 11:14 mark of the opening half. The visitors didn't score for the final 41 minutes, 14 seconds of the game.
Junior attacker
Julianne Green (Brightwaters, NY) and Toomy scored in the final 8:18 as the Golden Bears trailed 7-5 at the break.
Toomy tied the contest at 7-7 following her fourth goal with 25:36 remaining and senior midfielder
Liz McRoberts (Bourne, MA) put Western New England ahead for good with 21:12 to play.
Junior attacker
Ali Pepe (Reading, MA) contributed a goal and two assists for the Golden Bears.

Veronica Miano (Southington, CT) picked-up six ground balls.
Freshman goalie
Emily Castleman (Wilbraham, MA) finished with nine saves, including seven in the opening half that kept WNE in the game.
Western New England had a 34-19 advantage in shots, including a commanding 17-5 margin in the second stanza.

Emily Yourie (Ellington, CT) also scored twice and had three draw controls for Nichols while freshman attacker
Grace Murphy (Montclair, VA) had a goal and assist.
