Salve Regina Uses Second Half to Pull Away From Western New England, 7-1

Box Score MIDDLETOWN, R.I.--Visiting Western New England kept pace with Salve Regina for most of the game until a key four-minute stretch in the second half, as the Golden Bears dropped a 7-1 decision in Commonwealth Coast Conference field hockey action at Gaudet Field on Tuesday evening. Western New England falls to 2-9 overall, and 1-5 in the CCC, while the Seahawks improve to 6-5 and 5-1 in the conference.

Senior tri-captain Jaynie Mueller scored the Golden Bears' goal, her fourth on the season, in the 49th minute on a feed from classmate Sarah Race, also a team captain.

Alexisse Clinger paced SRU with two goals and an assist, and Lisa Bucci contributed a goal and two helpers.

Western New England freshman goalkeeper Emily Arnold notched her third double-digit save game of the season with 10.

Leading 3-0 in the 44th minute, the Seahawks scored four times in a span of 4 minutes and 29 seconds to put some distance between themselves and the Golden Bears.

Western New England steps out of conference play on Thursday to travel to Northampton, Mass., for a visit at Smith College; opening whistle is scheduled for 4 p.m.
