ROCHESTER, NY -- The fifth-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology (3-1) men's lacrosse team defeated No. 14 Western New England University (2-2), 13-4, in the first game of the 2013 Coaches vs. Cancer Flower City Cup on a cold and blustery Friday at RIT's Turf Field.

Nick Jez came off the Western New England bench to lead the offense with a pair of goals, while junior
Adam Knapton and senior Corbett Corrigan-Harreys had the other two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper
Brandon Body stopped 10 shots in the loss.
Jack Krzyston and Kyle Sterzin each had three goals for RIT while Eddie Kiesa dished out three assists.
RIT's defense was dominant, allowing four goals and causing 10 turnovers. Goalie Pat Johnston earned his third win of the season, making 13 saves. Elliott Cowburn had three caused turnovers, while Matt Hossack had two caused turnovers and four ground balls. RIT has allowed 4.3 goals per game in its last three games.
The Tigers also held advantages in shots (46-25), ground balls (30-18) and face-offs (13-8).
The Golden Bears, who trailed 7-2 at halftime, were unable to overcome 17 turnovers.
