BRISTOL, R.I.--The Western New England University men's tennis squad provided a fight in doubles competition to start its match at Roger Williams on Saturday, but the Golden Bears were unable to sustain that momentum going into singles as the Hawks won 9-0 in a sweep at the RWU Courts.
All three doubles matches were decided by just three games as Kevin Erikson/Jason Pacino defeated senior
Chris Holzinger/sophomore Peter Lefrancois in No. 1, 8-4; Jonah Schwartz/Ryan Swanson downed freshmen
Andres Otero/
Alexander Sause at No. 2, 8-5; and the team of Jonathan Chandler/Eric Laboissonniere got by sophomores
John Mindek/Peter Nassar, 8-5.
In singles play, Sause led the Golden Bears by taking five games from Taylor Webster in a 6-2, 6-3 No. 2 loss.
