Emily Castleman had a season-best 17 saves to lead Western New England to a 13-7 victory Tuesday over Nichols in women's lacrosse action at Vendetti Field.
The Golden Bears improve to 7-3 on the season, including a 2-1 mark in Commonwealth Coast Conference play, and have already clinched more wins than last year's 6-12 squad with seven games left to play. The Bison dip to 3-6 and 1-2 in the league.

Tori Cirocco each found the back of the net twice and freshman
Brooke Kumnick chipped in with a goal and two assists. Scannapieco also picked up six draw controls as Cirocco joined Stevens with three.
Sophomores Grace Murphy, Erica Antonison and Alyssa Bufis each scored twice for the hosts while Bufis led the Bison with four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Stevens recorded a natural hat trick late in the first half in a span of only 2 minutes and 32 seconds to give WNE a 9-3 lead at the intermission. The NCAA does not keep records for fastest hat tricks.
With the game tied 3-3, Western New England blew the game open with a six-goal outburst sparked by Cirocco on a pass from Stevens at the 12:53 mark of the first half.
The Golden Bears held a 19 to 15 shots advantage in the first half, but the Bison prevailed 32-29 for the game.
Nichols opened the second half with goals by Grace Murphy and Erica Antonison 53 seconds apart, but the Bison couldn't get closer than four goals the rest of the way.
