Box Score BEVERLY, Mass.--Third-seeded Western New England jumped out to an early 4-0 lead over No. 1 seed Endicott, but couldn't sustain that momentum in the later innings in a 6-5 loss as the Gulls eliminated the Golden Bears from the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference Softball Championship Tournament at North Field on Saturday morning.
The Golden Bears now stand at 26-18 on the season and will await a possible berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Division III Tournament. Endicott (20-19) advanced to face No. 2 Roger Williams, unbeaten in the conference playoffs, in the CCC championship round with an automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
Sophomore
Samantha Mulhern led four WNE teammates with two hits apiece, plus the second baseman had two runs batted in.
Kelley Michael had a two-run single for EC to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Byrne Katz capped the four-run rally in the inning with a RBI-single.
The big blow from the Golden Bears that staked the visitors to a four-run advantage after two came on a triple by Mulhern, who crossed the plate on the same play of an overthrow error. Sophomore

Alexis Bukowski both scored on the play, as each had singled in the inning, with Hill's hit knocking in junior
Katie Eckert, who had led off with a single.
Endicott junior Jesse Bilafer sparked the comeback with a two-run home run in the third inning which scored freshman Jamie Corda and cut the Gulls deficit in half.
Cameron Sprague earned the victory for Endicott, pitching 4-2/3 innings of relief. Sprague allowed just one run on four hits and collected a strikeout while collecting her fifth victory of the year.
Sophomore
Lauren Zambrano fell to 17-6 on the season for the Golden Bears, despite pitching a complete game.
Junior
Maria Francese, sophomore
Emily Mastropaolo and Hill also had two hits each for Western New England, which has improved on last season's 17-23 mark.
