SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Kirsten Kilburn scored twice and added an assist to lead nationally-ranked Mount Holyoke College to a 4-1 non-conference win Thursday over host Western New England University at Golden Bear Stadium. The Lyons, who are No. 17 in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III coaches' poll, won their sixth in a row to improve to 12-2 on the season. Western New England falls to 5-11 overall.

Grace Trupe made 11 saves--tying her career high, set two games ago--to help keep WNE in the contest with the Lyons, who had 23 shots for the evening.
Western New England had two early chances on penalty corners and freshman
Brittany DeLima blasted a long-range shot that was kicked out by the Lyons keeper before Mount Holyoke struck first on a lucky bounce in the 14th minute. Charlotte Wagner started a penalty corner from the right of the goal that came out to Sarah LaQuerre at the top of the arc. LaQuerre passed left across the arc, which was dummied by a MHC player, where Kilburn blasted a shot that deflected off a WNE defender over the shoulder of Trupe.
The Lyons seized control late in the first half with a pair of goals just 68 seconds apart. Kilburn picked up a loose ball off a rebound and her shot trickled across the goal line in the 34th minute. Chrissy Boyles scored her first of the season with only 33 seconds before the halftime horn to make it 3-0. Mount Holyoke held a commanding 17-3 lead in shots for the first 35 minutes.
Liz DiCesare started in goal for the Lyons and made five saves with one goal allowed to get the win before leaving in the 58th minute. DiCesare was substituted out for Mariesa Mazzone, who saw one shot for the final 12 minutes and 29 seconds of the contest.
Western New England had the first good look offensively to start the second half. In the 41st minute, DeLima sent in a cross from the right and French's point-blank shot was saved by DiCesare.
Kilburn assisted on the Lyons' fourth goal by Sophie Perekslis who was standing at the left post in the 53rd minute, becoming the program's all-time leader with 50 assists.
Western New England returns to action on Saturday for Senior Day--honoring French in a pregame ceremony--against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Nichols College at 1 p.m. at Golden Bear Stadium.
