Field Hockey Duo Named To National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 3, 2025) – Two members of the Western New England field hockey team have been honored on the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region Team, as Haley Kaczka and Mikayla Mrzywka have both been named to the all-region second team.

Haley Kaczka, the leader of the defensive core for the Golden Bears, put together another outstanding season to cap off an illustrious career in blue and gold. Kaczka picked up seven goals and added six assists during the 2025 season, scoring 20 points, the third time out of four seasons in which Kaczka has picked up 20 or more points in a single season. The Granby, Connecticut, native played in and made starts in all 21 games on the year, and finished her career by starting in all 74 games in her career. Kaczka took 50 shots, putting 29 on goal during the season, and scored the game-winning goal in a Conference of New England (CNE) game against Nichols College (9/27). Kaczka finished her career with 35 goals and 15 assists, good for 85 points in her career, taking 196 shots, putting 117 shots on goal. Kaczka picks up NFHCA All-Region Second Team honors for the third time in her career.

Mikayla Mrzywka jumped onto the scene and made an immediate impact for the Golden Bears in her first season in blue and gold. Mrzywka tallied her first career collegiate goal in a 5-0 win over Westfield State University (9/3) in the second game of the season, and never looked back, amassing 20 goals on the season, the second most in a single season in Western New England field hockey history. Mrzywka scored 11 goals in Conference of New England games during the season and also added five assists on the year, good for 45 total points. The Penfield, New York, native took 92 shots for the year, putting 67 on goal and scoring four game-winning goals. Mrzywka adds to her impressive opening season resume after being named the CNE Rookie of the Year and to the CNE All-Conference Second Team. Mrzywka, like Kaczka, claims NFHCA All-Region second team honors in 2025.

The Western New England field hockey team picked up a 12-9 record during the season and advanced to the CNE Semifinals for the fifth straight season.
