Box Score NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.--The Western New England University men's lacrosse team battled with top-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology early, but the Tigers were able to pull away in the first quarter en route to an 18-6 non-conference win at Iona Prep School on Saturday. The Golden Bears fall to 1-4 on the season while RIT improves to 5-0.

Owen Caruso notched a goal and an assist to lead eight different Golden Bears who registered at least one point.
Kyle Aquin pumped in four goals and seven points for the Tigers, who also got three goals apiece from Ryan Lee (2 assists) and Casey Jackson (1 assist).
Western New England was tied with last year's national runner-up for the first 5 minutes of the contest as juniorÂ

Mike Donahue scored 44 seconds apart to make it 2-2.
But RIT took command with seven unanswered goals to go up 9-2 after the first quarter. Aquin netted his second goal of the game, unassisted, at the 9:34 mark to break the deadlock, and the Tigers never looked back.

Colton Craig each scored their third of the season to open the scoring in the second quarter as WNE pulled within 9-4 at the 10:14 mark.
The Tigers, however, went on another scoring tangent by notching six of the next seven goals to take a comfortable 15-5 lead at halftime. Lee sparked the run with the first two goals and he added an assist.
The Golden Bears were able to hold RIT to only three goals in the second half, when juniorÂ
Garrett Mullins scored WNE's sixth goal with 11:23 remaining in the third quarter.

David Cedrone came off the WNE bench to record a team-high four ground balls and win 7 of 12 face-offs.
RIT held advantages in shots (43-34), shots on goal (29-24), ground balls (41-31) and face-off wins (16-12). Tyler Brooks-Lambert led the Tigers with six ground balls and went 10-for-16 in the "X."

Cam Gormley combined for 11 saves, while RIT starter Pat Johnston played the first 37:08 to earn the win after making eight saves and allowing six goals.
In another neutral site match-up, Western New England will play Pioneer Valley rival Amherst College on Tuesday (7 p.m.) at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
