Box Score WESTFIELD, Mass.--Sophomore forward Jennelle Juskiewicz scored a pair of goals in a two minute span in the second half to help Westfield State to a 5-0 non-conference win over Western New England in field hockey action on Saturday at Alumni Field. The host Owls improve to 2-0 on the season while the Golden Bears are now 1-1.
Westfield scored what proved to be the game-winning goal late in the first half when freshman Rachel Bunce tallied off an assist from Holly Brouillette with just 15 seconds left before the intermission. Western New England was able to hold off a deep Owls squad for much of the contest until giving up four goals in the second half, beginning with an insurance goal off the stick of Brouillette in the 44th minute.
Freshman
Renee Rossignol of WNE made five saves while facing 15 Owls shots. Westfield's Alanah Melanson started in goal and made one save before giving way to Megan Fountaine (1 save) at halftime.
Freshman forward
Brittany DeLima had a game-high-tying four shots--almost half of WNE's total of nine for the contest.
Western New England's next game is at 7 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts non-conference foe Elms College at Golden Bear Stadium.
