Taylor Scialdone combined for seven goals and 12 points to power the Western New England University women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 non-conference victory against Allegheny College on Wednesday morning here at the National Training Center. The Golden Bears have won four-straight to improve to 4-1 on the season, while the North Coast Athletic Conference-affiliated Gators drop to 2-3.
Kelsey Rodgers paced Allegheny with game highs of six goals (7 points), including 3-for-3 free-position tallies, and seven ground balls. McKenzie Bell added two goals, three assists, two ground balls and four draw controls.
With the score tied 6-6 at halftime, Western New England outscored the Gators 8 to 4 in the second half to get the victory. After Rodgers gave AC a 7-6 with 28 minutes and 1 second to go, the Golden Bears went on a 5-1 run over a 14-minute stretch to seize an 11-8 advantage. Junior
Tori Cirocco (2 goals, 5 ground balls, 2 caused turnovers, 2 draw controls) got the rally going at 26:27, and Scialdone scored the first of her three goals in the period at 19:44 to give WNE the lead for good, 8-7. Stevens, who finished with three goals and a game-best four assists for seven total points, recorded three helpers during the outbreak.
Scialdone ended up the day with four goals on nine shots and one assist, while classmate
Brooke Kumnick had a goal, three assists and three ground balls. Senior tri-captain
Jessica Scannapieco won a game-high 10 draw controls and she scooped up four ground balls.

Emily Castleman made nine saves to pick up the win, while Kaelin Clogan had 12 stops in the Allegheny cage.
Western New England also enjoyed statistical advantages in shots (35-22), shots on goal (26-19), draw controls (19-7) and ground balls (27-21). Both teams were charged with 22 turnovers.
Shelby Piper put the Gators on top 1-0 in the opening minutes of the contest before WNE stormed back to take a 4-1 lead at the 21:08 mark of the first half. Stevens scored three times and Scialdone once during a 7:14 span.
Rodgers answered with back-to-back goals to bring AC back within 4-3 before Cirocco found the back of the cage on a feed from Scannapieco to make 5-3 WNE with 15:15 remaining. Rodgers accounted for the Gators' next three goals, scoring at 11:20 and 20 seconds left while assisting on McKenzie Bell's goal to put AC up 6-5. Kumnick answered 11 seconds after Rodgers' goal in the final minute to send the teams deadlocked at 6-all going into the intermission.

Western New England closes out its spring break trip to the Sunshine State on Saturday (10 a.m.) against Rochester Institute of Technology here at the NTC.
