Box Score Golden Bears return home to host Nichols on Saturday
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (October 5, 2017) – The Western New England University field hockey team suffered a 5-0 setback to Smith College on Thursday evening in non-conference action at Smith's Turf Field.
Top Performers
• Senior forward Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.) accounted for all three of Western New England's shots on goal.

• Smith sophomore Morgan Handwerger (Leola, Pa.), who scored and recorded an assist, was among five different goal scorers for the Pioneers.
Game Review
• Sophomore Sammie Pavlov (Royersford, Pa.) got Smith on the board with an unassisted goal 9:46 into the contest.
• Senior Caroline Labriola (Westbrook, Conn.) doubled the Pioneers' lead at 16:17, before Handwerger made it 3-0 late in the half.
• Smith tacked on two more goals in the second half as sophomores Bayleigh Bogan (Encinitas, Calif.) and Maddie Ryan (Scituate, Mass.) both found the back of the net.
Notes
• Western New England senior goalie Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.) finished with nine saves.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, as Western New England (5-5) returns home to host Nichols and Smith (5-5) remains in Northampton to take on Springfield.
