WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 7, 2018) – The Western New England University ice hockey team wrapped up its first semester schedule with a 4-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University on Friday night in non-conference action at the Olympia Ice Center.

Top Performers
Senior Matt O'Dea (Orland Park, Ill.) led Western New England with two goals, while junior Andrew Green (Plainview, N.Y.) recorded three assists.

Seniors Steve Beck (Milton, N.Y.) and Chris Maione (Stouffville, Ont.) also found the back of the net for the Golden Bears.

Making his second straight start, junior goaltender Kyle Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up the win with a 36-save performance.

Southern New Hampshire's lone goal came courtesy of sophomore Kyle Galloway (Sugar Hill, Ga.).

Game Review
After over 17 minutes of scoreless action, Maione netted his first career goal with assists from senior Connor Eckenrod (Ebensburg, Pa.) and sophomore Anthony Frati (Churchville, N.Y.) to put the Golden Bears up 1-0.

Western New England doubled its advantage at the 11:27 mark of the second period on O'Dea's first goal of the night.

Southern New Hampshire capitalized on a power play opportunity six minutes into the third period to get back into the game, as Galloway scored on a feed from sophomore Max Kent (Sandwich, Mass.).

The Golden Bears restored their two-goal lead less than two minutes later, however, when Beck buried a short-handed goal to make it 3-1.
