Daigneault tallies both goals for Golden Bears

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 2, 2018) – The Western New England University field hockey team suffered an 11-2 setback to crosstown rival Springfield College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Stagg Field.

Top Performers
Sophomore Haley Daigneault (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored both of Western New England's goals, while senior goalkeeper Dana Dufour (Gloucester, Mass.) made 21 saves in the cage.

Springfield utilized a balanced offensive performance that featured seven different goal scorers. Sophomore midfielder Taylor Low (Longmeadow, Mass.) led the way for the Pride with a hat trick.

Game Review
At the 7:19 mark, Springfield was able to strike first with a goal from Holly Rivers (Danbury, Conn.) off the stick of Taylor Conley (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) to make it 1-0. Rivers finished with two goals and one assist.

Then, senior Amanda Nusbaum (Conway, N.H.) collected a goal of her own at 10:30 to make it 2-0, in favor of Springfield. The Pride used seven unanswered goals to separate themselves from Western New England.

The Golden Bears broke through at the 51:40 mark of the second half on Daigneault's unassisted tally. The sophomore found the back of the cage again nine minutes later, but Western New England's deficit proved to be too much to overcome.
