SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 25, 2021) – The Western New England University field hockey team defeated Eastern Connecticut State, 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.

Top Performers
Junior Taylor Klesyk scored both goals for the Golden Bears. Sophomore Laura Dion made five saves in goal.

Corey Callahan scored for the Warriors, while Bryce Makula had one assist.

Game Review
After a scoreless first half, Callahan opened the scoring after getting one past Dion to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead shortly into the second half. The Golden Bears tied the game at 1-1 with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. In overtime, Klesyk scored the game winner after a saved shot from junior Ali Martin fell right to her to tap in for the win.
