Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. (September 11, 2021) – The Western New England field hockey team traveled to WPI for a non-conference match up today and came up short 3-1.

How It Happened:
Neither team was able to convert on offensive chances in the first quarter with WPI recording one penalty corner and Western New England recording two. In the second quarter, WPI connected with the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. The Golden Bears amped up their defense to hold the Engineers scoreless for the remainder of the first half and the entire third quarter shutting out six penalty corner attempts.
In the fourth quarter, the Engineers were able to score twice just four minutes apart from each other. The Golden Bears did not give up and with 5:08 left in the game, Emily Campbell scored off a shot from the top of the circle to put the Golden Bears on the board. Western New England eventually ran out of time and fell 3-1 to the Engineers on the road.

- Both teams recorded eight penalty corners in the game with the Golden Bears earning four in the fourth quarter.
- The Golden Bears outshot the Engineers 9-5 while Laura Dion took the loss in net for the Golden Bears with one save on the game in 53:34 minutes.
