SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 20, 2025) – Western New England women's volleyball outside hitter
Charlei Henkel continues to impress the Conference of New England, claiming her third straight and fifth overall weekly award, being named this week's CNE Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
Henkel played in both of WNE's matches this week, each coming on the road. In a fifth-set match against Dean College, Henkel set a new career high with 22 kills on 58 attacks, hitting .207 for the match. The Centerton, Arkansas native also earned on set assist, one service ace, and ten digs in the match, leading the Golden Bears overall offensively. Henkel and the Golden Bears returned to Conference of New England play over the weekend and earned a three-set sweep against the Colonels of Curry College where Henkel led the WNE offense again, dropping in eight kills and a .174 attack percentage. Henkel put down four service aces in the
match, added a block at the net and six digs for the blue and gold.
Henkel now has 197 kills for Western New England and a .191 attack percentage for the season. She had also recorded 40 service aces, 16 blocks, and 256 digs this season. Henkel and the WNE women's volleyball team return home for Conference of New England action this coming Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 PM,
hosting the University of Hartford at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center.
