SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 21, 2025) – The Little East Conference (LEC) has announced their Swimmers of the Week for last week, starting on 10/13/2025. Due to her performance at the Blue Jay Pentathlon, Ella Smith has been awarded her first LEC Swimmer of the Week award of the year.
Ella Smith has been named the LEC Swimmer of the Week for the first time of the 2025-26 season. Smith garners this award after placing first in four of her five events and picking up a new program record at the Blue Jay Pentathlon on Friday, October 17, 2025. Smith started the day swimming the 50-yard Butterfly in 27.45, which placed Smith first. Smith then swam a 50-yard Backstroke time of 28.89 and a 50-yard Breaststroke time of 31.74. Both of those times resulted in first-place finishes. Smith then swam the 50-yard Freestyle in 25.84. Smith placed second overall in that event. Then, Smith placed first in the final event of the day, the 100-yard IM, with a time of 1:01.96. That was a new program record that Smith picked up in the 100-yard IM. Smith ended with a combined time of 2:55.88, which was fast enough for Smith to win the Pentathlon by over ten seconds.
Smith and the Golden Bears will host the UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs at home inside the Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM.
