SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 4, 2025) – Western New England field hockey first-year
Mikayla Mrzywka has earned her fourth weekly honor from the Conference of New England, being named the Rookie of the Week after a standout performance in the final regular season game of the year, a 5-3 win over Salve Regina University.
Mrzywka continued her scoring ways for Western New England in the regular season finale, registering a pair of goals and an assist in the 5-3 win over the Seahawks last Wednesday night. With the two goals, the Penfield, New York, native moved to 18 goals on the season, moving into third place in single-season goals scored in program history. Mrzywka took eight shots against Salve Regina, putting six on goal overall, and collected five points in the victory.
Although not counting towards her weekly award, which takes into account only regular season games played, Mrzywka helped the WNE field hockey team to a 5-1 victory in the first round of the Conference of New England Tournament this past Saturday afternoon, scoring two more goals, now collecting 20 on the season, over Johnson & Wales University. Mrzywka has 45 points for WNE on the season.
WNE field hockey heads to Endicott College on Wednesday, November 5, at 7:00 PM for the Conference of New England Semifinals, where the winner heads to the championship game. The Golden Bears look to get back to the championship for the first time since 2016.
