WELLESLEY, Mass. (February 15, 2025) – The Golden Bears marched into day two of the LEC Championships in fifth place out of eleven teams. In the prelims of the day two events, WNE saw three swimmers book a spot in Saturday's finals, and each swimmer who had a previous time in their prelims event had a season-best time in their respective events. Finals saw more best times, a first-place finish, and a WNE team record broken in the 200 Medley Relay.

How it Happened:
The morning prelims session began with the 400 IM, which saw Amanda Robinson race. Robinson currently owns the WNE team record in that event. Robinson would swim the race for the first time this season and earned a time of 5:30.27. That earned Robinson a place in the B-Final later on Saturday. The 50-yard Butterfly saw another season-best time from Alexa Adams. Adams dropped 1.97 seconds and earned a time of 30.95 in the event. Both 200-yard Freestyle swimmers for WNE earned spots in finals as Julia Remiszewski earned 11th place and a spot in the B-Final with a season-best time of 2:17.65. It was a best time by 4.47 seconds. Ella Smith would earn first place and a spot in the A-Final in prelims of the 200-yard Freestyle race. Smith earned a season-best and WNE team record time of 1:56.90 by 4.93 seconds. Giada Caruso would drop 0.64 seconds in the 100-yard Backstroke with a season-best time of 1:19.19. Then, Gianna Calabrese swam the 100-yard Breaststroke and earned another season-best time of 1:23.92. It was a best time by 2.35 seconds. After a ten-minute break, the 1000-yard Freestyle race was next. It had two WNE swimmers competing in the race, which served as the timed-finals for the event, meaning points were awarded for the top-16 swimmers. Sofia Piantedosi would swim a season-best time by 36.02 seconds, finishing with a time of 13:55.25. Olivia Emanuele was also in that event and earned fourteenth place after not swimming in the event this year. Emanuele earned a time of 12:28.58.
Finals got started with the 200 Medley Relay, where the Golden Bears' relay team of Caitlin Guntly, Ella Smith, Olivia Emanuele, and Alexa Adams won the bronze medal. Not only that, but the team would drop 7.49 seconds from their seed time and broke the former WNE team record for that event by 6.15 seconds. Amanda Robinson then placed twelfth in the 400-yard IM, swimming a time of 5:32.73. The 200-yard Freestyle race saw two Golden Bears compete in finals. Julia Remiszewski earned another season-best time by 1.84 seconds at 2:15.81. Remiszewski placed eleventh in the race to earn WNE even more points on the day. Ella Smith swam next and placed first for the second time this weekend. Smith won the 200-yard Freestyle race with a time of 1:57.37. Day two concluded for the Golden Bears with the 800-yard Freestyle relay. The relay team of Alexa Adams, Amanda Robinson, Julia Remiszewski, and Olivia Emanuele would place eighth with a final time of 9:08.00 after not being seeded going into the event. After two days of competition, the Golden Bears were in sixth place out of eleven teams, with 217 points.
