Mikayla Mrzywka has been named Conference of New England Field Hockey Rookie of the Week following another outstanding week for the blue and gold in which she scored a total of four goals across two games.
Mrzywka opened the week by helping the Golden Bears make a comeback over Springfield College on the road, tallying a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winning goal, as WNE picked up a 3-1 win. Mrzywka took four points in the win while coming up with three shots, all on goal. Mrzywka went on to score another two goals in a CNE victory over Nichols College, collecting another four points. Mrzywka tallied a career-high ten shots in the game, throwing nine of those on goal.
The Macedon, New York, native now has a sensational 11 goals and two assists on the year, a team-leading 24 points. Mrzywka has put up 40 shots this season, getting 30 on goal, and has three game-winning goals on the season for Western New England Field Hockey.
The Golden Bears are back in action this coming Wednesday, October 1, at 7:00 PM, hosting Amherst College before hitting the road to play Endicott College on Saturday, October 4, at 1:00 PM in CNE play.
