ATT HACKNEY HONORED AS THE WESTERN NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE MALE ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Junior captain Matt Hackney (Bristol, CT) was honored Tuesday (Mar. 23) as the Western New England College Male Athlete-of-the-Week.

Hackney, a catcher, hit .382 (13-for-34) in eight games at the Homestead Classic in Homestead, Florida during spring break. He scored 10 runs and had seven runs-batted-in along with a double, homer, and five stolen bases in five attempts.

A sport management major, Hackney hit safely in seven contests with three-hit performances against Adrian College (Mich.) and Westminster College (Pa.).

Western New England College posted a 5-3 record during its visit to the Sunshine State.
