Trio From WNE Baseball Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (June 2, 2026) – Three members of the Western New England baseball team have earned honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), being named to the Academic All-District Team, meeting academic and athletic requirements established by the organization. Jack Gamache and Ryan Montini earn honors for the second time in their careers, while Lucas Kamoen is named to the team for the first time.

In order to be named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for baseball, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have maintained at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Athletically, a position player must have competed in 90% of the team's games during the season or have started in 66% of the games for the year. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have at least 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched.

Jack Gamache played in 40 games of the team's 44 this season, becoming a staple in center field. Gamache picked up 39 hits over 149 at-bats, coming away with three doubles, a triple, a home run, and a career-high 20 RBIs during this past season. Gamache also led the Golden Bears with ten stolen bases, drew 15 walks, and was hit by a pitch four times. In the field, the WNE junior was nearly perfect, making 93 putouts on 94 attempts, while assisting on one other for a .989 fielding percentage on the season.

Ryan Montini was one of the most consistent hitters in WNE baseball history, playing in 35 games during the season, making 34 starts. Montini hit over .300 in three of his four seasons as a Golden Bear, including in 2026, when the Prospect, Connecticut, native posted a career-best .356 batting average, collecting 48 hits over 135 at-bats, picking up 13 doubles, four home runs, and driving in 32 RBIs. Montini slugged .541 on the season and had a .461 on-base percentage, both career highs. In the field, the WNE graduate was perfect, making 32 of a possible 32 putouts for a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Lucas Kamoen appeared in 18 games this past season for Western New England on the mound, posting a 4.57 ERA over 21.2 innings pitched. Kamoen gave up 22 hits and 15 runs, allowing 11 earned runs, walking just four batters, and striking out 11. Kamoen held opponents to a .262 batting average during the season and did not make an error during the season or throughout his career at WNE.

This marks the second straight season in which the Golden Bears have multiple student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. The 2026 WNE baseball team played to a 24-20 overall record, reaching the Conference of New England Championship Series for the third time over the last five years overall.
