SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 26, 2026) – Four members of the Western New England baseball team have been honored on All-Region Teams, announced on Tuesday afternoon from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as well as D3baseball.com. The four Golden Bears honored include
Tyler Kornacki,
Tyler Waterbury,
Ryan Montini, and
Tanner Wall.
Kornacki received honors on the ABCA All-Region First Team at third base following his breakout junior season in 2026. A consistent bat in the WNE lineup this past season, Kornacki hit well over .300 for the season, finishing the year with a .360 average over 37 games played, making 36 starts. The junior took 136 at-bats, collecting 49 hits, 17 coming for extra bases, including 13 doubles, three triples, his first career collegiate home run, and totaled 35 RBIs for the season. Kornacki drew 17 walks, had an on-base percentage of .452, and a .522 slugging percentage, all career highs. This marks Kornacki's second postseason honor of the season after being named to the Conference of New England (CNE) All-Conference Second Team.
Waterbury received honors from both the ABCA and D3baseball.com, being named to both organizations' third teams, respectively. Waterbury had a standout freshman campaign with WNE, slashing .342 over 38 games, making 38 starts. Waterbury collected 50 hits in his first season, 22 of those coming for extra bases, including 14 doubles, six home runs, and a pair of triples, while driving in 34 RBIs on the year. A good eye at the plate, Waterbury drew 22 walks on the year, had a .440 on-base percentage, third-best on the team, and carried a team-high .589 slugging percentage. Waterbury totaled 86 bases in his first year as a Golden Bear. The Danbury, Connecticut, native adds to his postseason accolades, having been named the CNE Player and Rookie of the Year for the 2026 season, while also landing a spot on the All-Conference first team.
In his final season with WNE, Montini earned ABCA and D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team honors. Montini put together his best offensive season of his four as a Golden Bear, slashing .356 at the dish in 2026, appearing in 35 games while making 34 starts. The outfielder collected 48 hits this season over 135 at-bats, picking up 13 doubles and four home runs, adding 32 RBIs for the year. Montini finished 2026 with the most walks on the team (28) while also leading the team in on-base percentage (.461). Montini slugged at .541 for the year, second-highest overall. Montini finishes his four seasons at WNE with a .330 batting average over 120 games, making 113 starts, collecting 147 hits, 34 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs, and 95 RBIs.
Wall picks up D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team honors as a starting pitcher this season. Wall was a consistent conference starter for the Golden Bears this season, throwing in 12 games overall, making 11 starts. Wall pitched 66.1 innings for the season, allowing 74 hits and 40 runs, 28 earned, while walking just 11 batters and striking out a career-high 60, holding opponents to a .277 batting average for the season. Eight starts this season came against Conference of New England opponents, as Wall threw to a 3.61 ERA, going 4-1, pitching 47.1 innings, giving up 53 hits, 26 runs, 19 earned, while striking out 39 batters, including a career-best 10 against Curry College (4/18). Overall, Wall had a 3.80 ERA for the season, tossing one complete game and one shutout.
The Western New England baseball team played in the conference championship series this season for the third time over the last five seasons, finishing with a 24-20 overall record and a 12-6 mark in CNE play.
