NORTHFIELD, Vt. â€" Western New England College scored seven goals in the first quarter en route to an 11-3 Pilgrim League victory over Norwich University.

Freshman Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) led the Golden Bears with two goals and an assist while classmate Nick Doherty (Kennebunk, ME) scored twice. Junior Pat Matthews (Middle Island, NY) had three assists.

WNEC improved its record to 8-4 with its fourth consecutive win (and seventh in its last eight contests). The Golden Bears remain in first place in the league with a 3-0 mark.

Western New England College is tied for 12th in the latest New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll.
