NASHUA, N.H. â€" Western New England College scored two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings for a 5-2 victory over Suffolk University in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament.

The win avenged two regular season losses to the Rams who are ranked fourth in the NEIBA Division III poll. The Golden Bears are ranked eighth.

Sophomore Jason Connelly (Scituate, MA) fired a five-hitter walking one with four strikeouts in raising his record to 6-3. He also had two hits, including a RBI double.

Junior catcher Matt Hackney (Bristol, CT) and sophomore second baseman Rob Crouse (Adams, MA) each had a single, double, and RBI.

Western New England College has a 26-9 record that ties as the second most wins in the program's 35-year history.

The Golden Bears will meet top-seeded Johnson & Wales University in a winners bracket game on Friday.
